My Cousin, the Producer

My cousin produced this ad for Doritos which has been submitted to a contest. It could be aired during the superbowl if it wins. Please help my cousin Phil win by voting 5 stars (I think the video is super cute!) by watching it here. THANKS & enjoy!

Another Neckwarmer

photo 3photo 2

I just love knitting up my Neckwarmer for Coreen pattern. It’s a quick knit and makes a great gift. This one however is for the shop, as a sample.I knitted up another sample for the shop as my cowl class is starting and I wanted to give knitters an option to see it in a solid color and a multi as well as in 2 different yarns. So this is the mutli sample. I loved working with the Cascade 128 Superwash. I will most probably knit up more things in this yarn. Again, I used US 11 - 8.0 mm needles and only about 68g of a 100g skein of yarn. (You need about 85-90 yards for this neckwarmer. This pattern is available on Ravelry for an inexpensive price. If you make one please send me pictures of the finished project! I’d love to see it.

A Hat for Maya

maya1

My next door neighbour requested a hat for her daughter as they can't find a hat that fits her that wasn't too baby looking as she is 4 and a half (yet petite). Used the Roar hat pattern for the hat, but didn't do the spikes as Maya wears a helmet for skating or tobogganing in the winter and the spikes wouldn't allow the helmet to fit properly. Isn’t she adorable in the hat? I am so glad it fits properly.

This was an extremely quick knit. Took me two evenings to make it. I used 4.5mm (US 7) circular needles (16”) and some yarn I got on sale at Walmart ages ago. They wanted something 100% washable, and the Eco-ways is a nice recycled blend suitable for the job.

While I was finishing up the hat, I was going to leave it plain, for the helmet reason, however Eugenie in my knitting group decided that it was a good idea to add a removable crochet flower. It’s held on by a button, which you can pop on or off. Isn’t that genius? Thank you Eugenie for the great idea & for whipping up the flower while I was weaving in my ends.

Shake your bon bon

Got to daycare today to pick up Quentin and he was in a silly mood. His teacher told me he was doing this little dance all day (which made her think of when Mackenzie was in her class, as he used to do the same type of dance). I had to get it on video, it was just too adorable. Happy Tuesday!

Blue Cameo Ruffle Scarf

scarfisblue

I whipped up another one of these scarves last week. This one is for my step-mother-in-law. It’s a quick knit and fun to do. This isn’t something that I would wear, but a lot of my shop’s clientele love making them & wearing them.

The free pattern can be found here. The scarf uses 10mm needles and you cast on just 3 stitches. It’s crazy easy and fun to make. The yarn is currently on sale in my shop, so it makes an inexpensive gift to boot!

Honeycomb Cowl

honeycowl cowl90done

Over the weekend I knit up this Honeycomb Cowl in Cascade Lana Grande. It’s a free pattern here.  It used up .93 of a 100g ball of the aqua and .67 of a 100g ball of the ivory. I used 9 mm (US 13) knitting needles and it took no time at all (a couple of hours on Saturday). I love this pattern and now I want to make up a lot of these in different colors! What a great fun pattern. The 3d look is totally neat, and it’s knit up in one piece. Right now the cowl is hanging out at the shop as a sample and it’s getting it’s fair share of love. We have a ton of colors arriving at the shop today & I can’t wait to pick out my next color combo.

13 inches

13inches

Yesterday I cut off 13” of my hair. It was long overdue. I grew my hair out for my sister’s wedding which was in August, as you can cut longer hair but you cannot make hair longer as I didn’t know until last minute what I wanted to do with my hair for the wedding. I grew it out for about 2+ years or so, if I remember correctly. It got ridiculously long and it was feeling heavy and it was always getting in the way. So yesterday, the kids and I all got a haircut. I decided since I had enough hair, to donate it to the Pantene program that uses hair to make wigs for cancer patients. My hair is packaged up and ready to be mailed, I just need to get to the post office. I feel so much better with shorter hair and as a working mom of 3, it’s so much more manageable now!
